Samasha Champions Youth SRHR Accountability at the 8th RHNK Pan-African Conference

Youth SRHR Accountability at the 8th RHNK Pan-African Conference

Samasha’s participation in the 8th RHNK Pan-African Conference spotlighted our ongoing commitment to youth-centered accountability in SRHR. Our abstract presentation emphasized the role of structured district platforms (DiCAHs) in amplifying youth voices and enabling community-level SRHR action. This contribution added a valuable layer to the broader conversation on how local governance systems can be leveraged to strengthen
adolescent and youth health outcomes.

Meaningful Engagements Beyond the Conference Halls

While the formal sessions provided space for learning and sharing, Samasha also capitalized on informal engagements with representatives from other CSOs and regional networks. These side conversations were instrumental in fostering new partnerships and exchanging experiences on innovative approaches such as the Motion Tracker, which we are using to track and advocate for implementation of SRHR commitments.

Joint Commitment to Youth SRHR

The conference concluded with a bold communiqué from participating stakeholders under the theme “Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in a World of Emerging Threats and Opportunities.” It underscored the urgency to:

  • Elevate youth leadership and cross-continental collaboration on SRHR.
  • Promote digital and community-led access to youth-friendly services.
  • Build inclusive, climate-resilient health systems that protect vulnerable groups.

Moving Forward

Samasha returns from Mombasa inspired and better connected—with renewed energy to
advance accountability for youth SRHR at both district and national levels. We remain
committed to ensuring that young people are not only heard but also actively shape the
SRHR agenda in Uganda and across the continent.
