Samasha is a Global South Non-Governmental-Organization with headquarters in Uganda
that provides technical assistance to improve Reproductive, Maternal, New-born, Child,
Adolescent Health outcomes through Advocacy and Accountability, Health Systems
Strengthening, as well as generating evidence and innovations. The organization was
incorporated in Uganda in 2012 and has since grown to implement projects in over 14
countries to date. We build local and technical capacity for the provision of internationally rated
consulting services and projects; and support public, private, and civil society to create
synergy to leverage the increasingly scarce resources for improved health needs of
populations in the Global South.
The Project Assistant will support the Samasha programs team through the production of
communication materials for grant acquisition, advocacy campaigns, and marketing.

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Responsibilities
Write, edit, and distribute various types of content, including material for
websites, social media platforms, press releases, marketing material, and other
types of content that take the message to the public.Regularly meet with and conduct interviews with media personnel.
Create and produce internal newsletters for the program.
Develop and maintain working relationships with journalists in multiple types of
media outletsSupport the programs/project teams to compile reports and briefs
Coordinate the design, development, and rollout of campaign materials by
working closely with service providers and the procurement teamLead the collection of communications content such as stories, pictures, audio
and video to document and showcase Samasha’s work.Produce and disseminate communications outputs such as newsletters, case
studies, success stories, blogs, etc.Ensure that accurate, clear, and consistent information and communications are
available and use various formats (multimedia, visual content, written content).Participate in stakeholder engagement events and develop ad hoc
communication plans for such events.Develop activity digital and social media strategy and oversee its
implementation, ensuring that digital channels are updated on a regular basis.Guide and support the project team with collecting content and documenting
successes and challenges.Managing knowledge assets in the team – including a picture bank, ensuring
good capture of content and maintaining a knowledge management system to
drive a learning culture.Manage and track communications and maintain contacts lists (with targeted
audiences).Review and improve internal and external documents including emails,
presentations, project briefs, and reports.Any other assigned duties
Qualifications, skills, and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, arts, or any related
field.Minimum of three years of relevant experience in communications, events
management, and/or media relationsExcellent writing skills and ability to tailor products to the audience.
Proven experience with developing communication plans
Proven experience collecting content in the field through visits and interviews
and engaging with a diversity of stakeholders.Experience producing content for social media and digital platforms.
A creative story-teller with highly developed interpersonal, networking and
communication skills.
