Prof Pauline Byakika Kibwika.
Pauline Byakika-Kibwika is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Epidemiology at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, where she also heads the Department of Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Uganda National Academy of Sciences. Prof Byakika continues to write and manage research and capacity-building grants. She is well-published and has supervised several postgraduate and PhD students’ research projects.
She is a member of the Uganda Ministerial Scientific Advisory Committees on COVID-19, Ebola haemorrhagic fever, and Malaria. She previously served as a member of the scientific review committee at the Infectious Diseases Institute for over 15 years and was a member of the pioneer accreditation committee for research ethics committees (RECs) at the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology, for ten years. Prof Byakika chairs the Advisory Board of Samasha Medical Foundation and is a Commissioner of the East African Health Research Commission.
